- DESCRIPTION
We collaborate with a young beekeeper, Colin, located in the south-west of Corsica, in the pretty region of Balagne. This region is free of pesticides and intensive cultivation. Wildlife is wild. A few years ago, Colin took over the beekeeping business from his parents who settled in Corsica in the 1970s. Colin is passionate, he practices traditional beekeeping, which guarantees the good health of the bees.
The honey is PDO and respects very precise specifications which highlight the good treatment of the bees and the traceability of the honey.
Maquis honeydew is harvested from the end of July until August 15th. It comes from the saliva of a small butterfly, the Metcalfa, which mixes with the sap. The bee will collect this substance and process it like nectar. Maquis honey comes from the brambles, oaks and alders above Calenzana.
