Miel Factory has selected for you this Savannah honey, harvested on the west coast of Grande Terre in Bourail, on the edge of the plain and on the edge of the foothills of the central mountain range. The bees have foraged countless varieties of tree and herbaceous flowers such as pepper plant, black wood, blue grass, false mimosa, niaouli, kanak apple, as well as a multitude of lianas.
Arnaud is the benefactor of this magnificent honey. After a career as an engineer in civil aviation and a passion for bees, in 2007 he decided to take over the family apiary in Mayenne. Passionate about beekeeping and travel, he wandered around the planet for a while and in 2011 decided to put his two suitcases on this remote archipelago. He now has 300 beehives there.
On Grande Terre, a mixed bee is used for collecting honey. It comes from natural crosses between apis mellifera mellifera (imported by the Marist fathers in the 19th century) and apis mellifera ligustica (imported from Australia during the 2nd half of the 20th century).
